Russell Jakubowski Sculpture projects with pupils who have Special Educational Needs

SEN schools

I have headed arts projects with with schools whose pupils are educationally challenged. There are two projects detailed here. A price is given for each indicating the total cost of design, workshops, materials and construction of the finished work.

1) Osborne school in Winchester, Art Without Borders.

Designs inspired by the figure are brought together here in both negative and positive space to make this white cement sculpture. 32 pupils employed photography and clay modelling skills to build molds and models for this work which is sited on the grass opposite the school library.

2) Hollywater school in Bordon, Powerhouse - plaster relief.

This wall relief was designed for the schools central lobby and involved every member of the school community, 217 people in all. Each person contributed a unique plaster relief tile using molds made from personal items. Being a white relief on a white wall makes it a striking but not overpowering part of this public space.

28 pupils at Osborne School modelled 3D silhouettes of themselves in clay, these then formed the negative spaces in the block wall.
